This was my makeup for Fathers Day dinner on Sunday….. I was asleep, I was woken up and told me were leaving in 15 minutes. I had to have a shower, figure out what I was wearing and do my makeup/hair. Ummmmm right. Needless to say we left 5 or 10 minutes late; I did my make up in such a rush!
What I wanted to talk about, though, was that I have a huge nose. And a really small upper lip, that is very disproportionate to my lower lip (I got bitten by a dog when I was three, he ruined all hopes of any natural Angelina Jolie lips I might have had…)
………But, so what? I like the colour of my eyes, I like my hands and my legs. I don’t like my feet, they are ugly. But I like my boobs, they’re great. And my ass isn’t so bad either. My point is, we all have bits that we don’t like. But you SHOULD have bits of your body that you LOVE. It’s taken me a while to realise, but, amazingly enough, no one is perfect. Not even Miranda. Or Cara. Or Jennifer Lawrence. They are all very close to perfect, but no one is actually perfect. Catherine Zeta-Jones is beautiful, right? She has amazing, dramatic eyes, a sultry voice and heavenly curves. But you know what? She actually doesn’t have very feminine hands.
So, I repeat, no one is perfect. Always remember how much editing goes in to images not only in magazines, but most of the images you see on Pinterest and Instagram. I’m not amazing at appreciating myself, I need to be a lot better at it. But at least now I can laugh at my big nose, safe in the fact I love my curves, my eyes and my long hair.
Also remember that there are probably lots of people out there that admire a part of you that you never even pay attention to, or would have thought to notice! (i.e. a lady private messaged me on FB the other day and asked if my lashes were real or not… I’ve never used fake eyelashes and mine aren’t particularly long or obedient at being curled, so its not something I would have ever considered ‘beautiful’).
Big nosed sisters, unite!
Peace out x
